UNP’s Galle District Parliamentarian Buddhika Pathirana stated that he would not change his stance regarding the reconstruction of the UNP despite the truce today.

The General Secretary of the UNP Tissa Attanayake stated today that the party and Pathirana had come to an agreement which is to be submitted to the working committee.

“The disciplinary inquiry that was brought against me was citing wrongful allegations regarding my involvement with independent groups who contested at the Municipal Council election. My stance in this regard has not changed. I did not have anything to do with the independent parties during that time and I have conveyed this to the hierarchy of the party," he said.

The MP further pointed out that the process followed regarding the agreement will be handled by the secretary of the party.

However, when asked as to if his allegiance to the reformist group had been alienated Pathirana was quick to refute it. “I will continue to do the work I have done with no deviation for the betterment of the party and the people,” he said. (Hafeel Farisz)
