The Sri Lankan Embassy in London has been directed to request the British Government to provide security to the Sri Lankan Cricketers and Sri Lankans in Britain in the wake of reports of coordinated attacks on them, the Ministry of External Affairs said today.

Ministry Secretary Karunaratne Amunugama said the ministry had instructed the embassy to take necessary measures on a diplomatic level to ensure the safety of Sri Lankans residing in Britain.

Chief Government Whip Dinesh Gunwardena told parliament on Thursday that certain groups were hired to threaten the players and their Lankan supporters. (Hafeel Farisz)
