Boat tragedy in Kirinda

A navy officer and a child were killed while three others have gone missing when a boat at the Kirinda harbour capsized this afternoon, navy spokesman Captain Athula Senarath told Daily Mirror online.

The boat had been provided by the navy for an excursion to a family which visited the Kirinda harbour. The boat had capsized due to rough sea conditions.


A search operation is currently underway by the navy to find the three missing people who were on the boat, two of the missing persons are children, Captain Senarath said.


Two others who were reportedly injured are now receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. (Daily Mirror online)
