The incident where popular Singer Saman De Silva was allegedly assaulted by Southern Provincial Council Minister Bindu Weerasinghe during a musical show in Borella last Saturday night was amicably settled at the Borella police station today.

Just before leaving the Borella police station, Saman De Silva told the media that they arrived at a compromise through the mediation of Senior DIG Anura Senanayake.

“DIG Senanayake asked us not to drag this matter any further and after giving his request some thought we decided to resolve this matter. It was to have been taken up at the reconciliation board,” Saman De Silva said.

Provincial Minister Bindu Weerasinghe said Senior DIG Anura Senanayaka succeeded in helping us to reach a compromise while strengthening our mutual friendship.

Sri Lanka Singers’ Association (SLASA) President Madumadawa Aravinda said he was not personally satisfied at the manner in which this incident was settled and assured their support for any artiste in incidents of this nature. (Ajith Siriwardana)
