Beggars out today

All beggars are to be removed from the main railway stations island wide beginning today. Sri Lanka Railway Spokesperson Vijay Samarasingha confirmed this morning that it was an initial step and the process would continue to include smaller stations in the near future.

Samarasingha confirmed that the Railway Protection Force and the Police are engaged in the removal of these beggars from the premises of the Railway stations in Kandy, Fort, Matale and Galle.

 In July beggars were prevented from boarding trains. (SR)
