A killing spree of street beggars continued today with the discovery of a body of a beggar near the Gangaramaya Temple filling station. The Colombo Judicial Medical Officer was directed to submit to Court the post mortem examination report on the body of the beggar.

The Slave Island police told Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne that they had found the dead body suspected to be that of a beggar with severe injuries to the head. The police had also found a wheel chair which they believed might have been used by the man.

The police said on May 14, they had recovered the bodies of two beggars, at Kollupitiya and Slave Island, also with serious head injuries. (LS)
