The body of a disabled man with severe head injuries was found by the Mount Lavinia police close to the Mount Lavinia police station today. The victim had been bashed to death using a stone late on Monday night by unknown persons.

A wheel chair used by the victim was recovered and it is believed the victim was also involved in selling sweep tickets in the area. The police had recovered a pack of sweep tickets in his possession and his cash collection is suspected to have been stolen by his attackers.

The police had this month recovered the bodies of five beggars at various locations in the city also with serious head injuries after being hit using a stone. Investigations are underway to ascertain if the latest murder had any connections with the previous incidents.
