BBS Gen.Sec. makes statement to Police

The Police today recorded a statement from Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) General Secretary Ven. Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thera at the Slave Island police station for allegedly threatening a Buddhist monk on Wednesday.
 
The statement was recorded after Mahiyanganaya Pradeshiya Sabha member Ven. Watareka Vijitha Thera lodged a complaint with the Slave Island Police against the Ven Gnanasara Thera and several other bhikkus over the alleged disruption of a media conference organised by the Jathika Bala Sena (JBS) at a hotel in Colombo on Wednesday, April 9.
 
The Ven. Vijitha Thera alleged that Buddhist monks belonging to the BBS, including its general secretary Gnanasara Thera, had stormed the media conference and threatened to kill him, and disrupted the pre-arranged programme. In his police complaint, the complainant has called for a police inquiry into the actions of the BBS members over Wednesday’s incident.
 
Police said that they are going to record a statement from the complainer, Ven Vijitha Thera later.
