The Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pullikal (TMVP) says it is preparing to stage a public protest in Batticalloa as a demand to the alleged abductors, seeking the release of a TMVP Municipal Councilor, has gone unheard.

TMVP spokesman Azad Maulana, speaking to Daily Mirror online said that they are yet to get any information on the whereabouts of Pragasam Sahayamany and believe that he may have been abducted by some group despite the fact that there are no armed political outfits operating in the East anymore.

Maulana said that the protest campaign to be staged by the TMVP with the participation of the general public in Batticaloa will seek the release of the missing TMVP Municipal Councilor by his alleged abductors and action by the authorities to prevent such incidents in future.

Eastern Province Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan had this week urged the army and police to investigate the incident. (Daily Mirror online)
