Bangladeshi National arrested with foreign currency

A Bangladeshi national was arrested at the Katunayake International Airport with foreign currency worth Rs.7.5 million when he attempted to smuggle them to Dhaka, the Customs said.

According to customs the foreign currency comprised US Dollars and Euros. The currency was hidden inside his checked luggage and covered with clothes.

He was taken into custody by a team of airport custom officers at around 10.45 pm last night when he was about to board a flight bound to Dhaka.

The detection was made by a team consisting of Superintended of Customs Harsha Jayathilaka and A.N Tennakoon. (SD and DA)
