UNP Puttalam District Member of Parliament Palitha Range Bandara says he is fed up with his party and has decided to boycott party events and meetings. However he says he has not decided to quit the party.

Speaking to Daily Mirror online the UNP MP said he had reached the decision as the party has yet to take disciplinary action against UNP member Shantha Abeysekera over his involvement in the brutal assault on Bandara just prior to the General Elections.

Bandara, who sustained serious injuries in the assault and was hospitalized, says he will attend Parliament once in three months to ensure he does not lose his seat in Parliament but will not attend UNP meetings or events.

He once again slammed the UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayaka and blamed him over the failure to take disciplinary action against Shantha Abeysekera.

Earlier this month, speaking to Daily Mirror online, Bandara had warned that he would be compelled to re-consider his position in the UNP if Attanayaka failed to take appropriate action against the member within.

Reponding to the concerns raised by Bandara, UNP general secretary Tissa Attanayaka had told Daily Mirror online earlier this month that a charge sheet had already been filed against Shantha Abeysekera and action could be taken only after he responded to the charges against him.
