The Mallakam Magistrate’s Court today issued a stay order banning any protests, demonstrations or assembly up to 14 days within the Chunnakam Police area starting today, the police said.

The court order had been issued due to a protest that was scheduled to be held today by the ‘Mahajana Balaya Peramuna’ over the incident where an 18-year-old student was gang raped and killed at Punguditivu in Jaffna.
