Police used tear gas to disperse a group of minor employees at the Badulla Hospital, who were protesting in front of the hospital blocking the main road this morning, police said.

The employees were protesting demanding the police to arrest a driver of a vehicle that had seriously injured a person in an accident yesterday morning.

“Police had to use tear gas to control the tense situation, as protestors started to attack the police, injuring the Badulla police HQI,” a police spokesman said adding that the driver of the vehicle had already been taken into police custody.
