Australia reached 63 for 2 at lunch on the first day of the third test against Sri Lanka, as Shaminda Eranga became the 15th bowler in test cricket history to take a wicket off his first delivery.

Eranga who was brought on as first change had Shane Watson caught by Tillakaratne Dilshan for 8, as Australia slumped to 22 for 2 in the ninth over.

Philip Hughes who was yet to get off the mark, was the first to be dismissed when he edged the ball onto his stumps for no score, in the second over of play, bowled by Suranga Lakmal.

Play started 30 minutes late, after morning rain had left the outfield soggy.

Ricky Ponting (25) and Shaun Marsh (26) were at the crease. (SMD)
