A court has heard that three men who raised more than one million Australian dollars for the LTTE are senior members of the terrorist organisation in Australia. The three men pleaded guilty to funding the Tigers, Radio Australia reported.

Aruran Vinayagamoorthy, Sivarajah Yathavan and Arumugum Rajeevan have admitted to giving money to the Tamil Tigers between 2004 and 2007.

The Tamil Tigers is listed as a terrorist organisation in Australia.

Vinayagamoorthy has also pleaded guilty to providing radio transmitters which the prosecution argue were used for paramilitary activity in Sri Lanka, including denotating roadside bombs.

The prosecution has told the court the men were not just supporters of the Tamil Tigers but had a close association with the organisation.

The court heard they were involved in collecting and transferring more than $AU1 million from Australia to the group over a three year period.

The plea hearing continues.
