Assault by Malaka: British HC awaits details

The British High Commission in Colombo, has sought “verification and are awaiting further details from the Sri Lankan authorities” regarding the alleged assault of two British nationals by Malaka Silva and his friends on Saturday night.


A spokesperson for the High Commission told Daily Mirror that officials of the High Commission “are currently in touch with the authorities”.
The spokesperson further said that, until the High Commission receives verification from the Sri Lankan authorities, they could not comment on further steps that would be taken. 

Malaka Silva, the son of controversial Minister Mervyn Silva is alleged to have assaulted a Scotsman on Saturday night at a night club in Bambalapitiya.
The Police earlier said that the Colombo Crimes Division is looking to arrest six of Malaka Silva’s accomplices, who are also alleged to have assaulted the Scotsman.(Hafeel Farisz)
