Arrested principal released on bail

The Principal of St. Servatius College, Matara who was arrested last Thursday following a complaint lodged by the ‘Bodhu Bala Sena’ organization against alleged attempts of religious conversion of students about two years ago, was released on bail after being produced before the Matara Magistrate.

According to the Police, the complaint had been lodged with the Matara police by a monk involved with the ‘Bodhu Bala Sena’ organization on November 21. The Principal had been arrested following the complaint on November 22. On November 23 he was produced before the Matara Magistrate who released him bail upon two sureties worth Rs. 100,000 each. (LP)
