Army says Fonseka mum on vacating official residence

General Sarath Fonseka has reportedly vacated his official quarters but has not informed the Attorney General, Commissioner of Elections or Sri Lanka Army Headquarters as of today as stipulated in a Supreme Court judgment on the issue, the Army Headquarters said in a statement.

The statement by the Army Headquarters said that once legal advice in this regard is received the official residential quarters is to be accepted upon completion of proper receipt and hand-over procedures since the official residence of the Commander of the Army, for the first time in the history of the Army has been now found used for political work.

Once the official residence is restored to the status of the residential quarters as before the incumbent Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya intends to move into the quarters for residence.
