A suspect who was detained for allegedly trafficking arms from China for the LTTE during the war was further remanded today by the Colombo Chief Magistrate. The CID meanwhile told the court that they are trying to identify more suspects over the case.

The CID told the court that Rajendran Karunakaran from Jaffna had trafficked arms from China for the LTTE to be used against the security forces.

The CID said that the suspect was alleged to have purchased arms for the LTTE movement in China in connivance with two other Korean Nationals. Subsequently the arms had been sent to Sri Lanka by the vessels belonging to the LTTE movement.

The CID said they wanted to identify the other suspects involved in the incident and the suspect had been questioned by them to identify them.

The CID requested the magistrate to detain the suspect to facilitate the investigations.

Considering the submissions of the CID the Magistrate detained the suspect till February 26 and ordered the CID to file their investigation report in court on that date.
