Just days after a day old baby was found alive dumped in a toilet pit in Ratnapura, police said they had found another day old baby dumped in a garbage pit, this time along the Maskeliya – Norton Bridge main road.
The police who had rushed to the scene on information obtained from the public found the baby this morning and admitted the child to the Maskeliya District Hospital.
Hospital Director Dr. P.G..P.Gamage told Daily Mirror online the child may have been delivered in the early hours of today. He said the child was in perfect health.
The police women’s bureau Sub Inspector Priyadarshani Thrimavithana is conducting further inquiries on the instructions of the OIC the Maskeliya police IP K.S.Pathirana in order to trace the child’s mother and arrest her. (Daily Mirror online)
