Anoma more hopeful now than before

Former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka’s wife Anoma said yesterday she had not been notified by anyone of her husband’s impending release despite reports to that effect.

Ms. Fonseka said although her husband’s release was discussed during discussions between President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Tiran Alles and though it was reported that Mr. Fonseka would be released soon it was still uncertain about the final result.

“I will be very happy if my husband is released and is served justice. However we still don’t know how or when he will be released because I have not been notified about it by anyone,” Ms. Fonseka said.

She said however she was more hopeful of her husband’s release this time as the statements made for his release were far more concrete and legitimate than those made for his release on Independence Day and Vesak Poya Day. “I am uncertain but I still remain hopeful,” she said. (Olindhi Jayasundere)
