A Sri Lankan who attempted to smuggle gems worth Rs. 8 million to Singapore has been arrested by Customs officers at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) yesterday.

Customs officials said the gems had been packed in condoms, and hidden in his rectum. The suspect has been identified as a 56-year-old resident of Beruwela.(Pix by Deepa Adhikari)
