Albino Turtle found ?

An Albino Turtle believed to be the one lost in a turtle hatchery in Kosgoda, was recovered from the house of the hatchery owner’s daughter, police sources said today.

A rare species of albino turtle claimed to be worth over Rs.35 million was stolen from a private turtle hatchery and research centre in Kosgoda Last December.

Police said investigations were continuing to find out whether the complainant Chandrasiri Abrew had made a false complaint in which it was claimed that singer Amal Perera could have stolen the turtle.

However, following the discovery of the albino turtle from his daughter’s house, Abrew had got himself admitted to a hospital, and the police are to record a statement from him. Police said if it was found that Abrew had made a false complaint initially, steps would be taken to arrest him.

Meanwhile, singer Amal Perera had identified the albino turtle that was found yesterday as the one he had initially made an offer.
