Air Force surveillance aircraft to find missing fishermen

Sri Lanka Air Force deployed a Beechcraft surveillance aircraft to search the coastal area from Kollupitiya to Galle, as part of its joint mission to search and rescue missing fishermen, the Air Force said.

Search and rescue operations are underway for the second day to find missing fishermen, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said

Six persons including five fishermen died while 43 fishermen are reported missing so far due to adverse wind conditions affecting several parts of the country. 

397 families comprising 1294 people, while 22 have been injured and more than 1000 houses were damaged during the past two days.
