Actress Angela to be questioned

Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) officials said a statement from actress Angela Senerviratne would be recorded after verifying details regarding the arrest of a Britisher who came to the Central Mail Exchange with a letter said to be from her to collect a parcel allegedly containing Hashish.

Police Headquarters said PNB and Customs officials were conducting a joint operation to arrest the British accomplice who escaped.

The parcel was addressed to the actress at a Kollupitiya residence where she was living some time ago.

However the foreigner who hadbeen detained claimed he was staying with his mother at Wellawatte since arriving in the country.

The detectives had visited the address in Kollupitiya but found the place empty.  Police Investigations had revealed that following the detection, two other British nationals and two Sri Lankans had visited the house and left taking some clothes and other items.

Meanwhile, theBritisher, who visited the Colombo Central Mail Exchange to collect three parcels addressed to film actress Angela Seneviratne and alleged to have contained hashish was yesterday ordered to be detained by the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) till Tuesday.

The detention of British citizen Brutton Saul was ordered by Colombo Fort Magistrate KanishkaWijeratne on a written request made by the PNB director SP Nanayakkara, who said the suspect needed to be further questioned. (Supun Dias & LakmalSooriyagoda)
