Police Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said the Police would take legal action against the Colombo 7 gambling den managers but no action would be taken against the owners of the complex in which the illegal den was located.

“We are not interested in who the owners of the complex are. But we will file action against the managers who conducted the operation at the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court on November 25,” he said.

The spokesman said nine suspects arrested during the raid yesterday were released on police bail.

When questioned as to the provisions under which they were released the spokesman said that the offence they were arrested for was an offence which the Police could grant bail.

“It is a bailable offence and all those released on police bail were asked to appear in Courts on Monday,” he said.

The Gambling Den located at the Salaka Complex in Town Hall was raided earlier this month when 45 suspects were arrested and later released. Yesterday’s raid was carried out by the Slave Island Police Anti-vice Division on a tip off that the den had re-started operations on November 17.( By Hafeel Farisz)
