Accused in Indian Dy. HC’s vehicle theft case acquitted

Two persons accused of stealing the Indian Deputy High Commissioner’s official vehicle in May 2005, were acquitted by the Kegalle High Court today.

The two accused were alleged to have stolen the Land Cruiser belonging to the Deputy High Commissioner while it was parked near the Ambepussa Rest House.

High Court Judge Menaka Wijesundara, in her judgment said the prosecution had failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the duos were responsible for the robbery (Rohan Kumara)
