Access to WTC limited during Night Races

Access to the World Trade Center (WTC) will be halted for practice runs and race day of Colombo Night Races, which is to start the latter part of this week, a circular issued to all tenants by the management of the WTC said.

During practice runs on December 14 and race day on the 15th, no vehicles or people will be permitted to enter or leave the WTC premises. Free movement will only be allowed until 5 p.m., on both days.

Afterwards, movement will once again be allowed between 9:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and 11:20 p.m. to 11:40 p.m. only.

Practices and races will commence from 6 p.m. and are scheduled to end at 2:30 a.m.

Whilst no special passes are required on practice day, following the commencement of races, no vehicles or people will be permitted to enter Bank of Ceylon Mawatha till after the end of the races.

Only pedestrians with passes will be permitted to enter the WTC after the commencement of races with access only being permitted from Sir Chittampalam Gardiner Mawatha (near the Regal Theater).

Tenants in possession of passes for the races will have access to the Public Car Park located opposite Lake House, whilst pedestrian access to the WTC will be from the rear drop off point of the building; the front entrance will remain shut on race day.
