Abducted businessman's son rescued

The 22 year old son of a prominent businessman who was abducted last week was rescued last night by the Serunuwara police following a special operation.The Police have taken into custody the van that was used to abduct the youth together with four persons suspected to have been involved in the abduction. The abductors had earlier asked the businessman to pay the abductors 30 million rupees in order to free his son. The abductors were residents of the Serunuwara area.

The suspects and the van that was taken into custody last night were handed over to the Vakarai Police for further investigation.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror Police spokesman Ajith Rohana said that the suspects were taken into custody following a special strategy. “The Police used a special strategy to track down the suspects, we were able to successfully rescue the abducted youth together with four suspects who were involved in the crime” he said.
