Worker error caused power blackout: Interim Report

A mistake made by a worker of the Ceylon Electricity Board was responsible for the recent countrywide power outage which occurred on August 17, Co-Cabinet Spokespersons and Minister Udaya Gammanpila said.

Addressing at the weekly Cabinet meeting he said the officer was responsible for general maintenance at the time in the Kerawalapitiya Grid Sub Station.

The report of the interim committee appointed by the Minister of Power Dullas Alahapperuma to probe the recent countrywide blackout was tabled for the attention of the Cabinet of Ministers. Pix by Kithsiri De Mel
