A full-scale investigation will be carried out into the incidents where photos were shared on social media showing some students sitting for the O/L examination with umbrellas to protect themselves from rain, Examination Commissioner General L.M.D. Dharmasena said.
He said disciplinary action will be taken against the principal of the Gampaha Thakshila Vidyalaya for compelling candidates to sit for the examination while holding umbrellas and posting images on social media.
The principal could have provided an alternate location to conduct the examination, but she had failed to do so.
However, disciplinary action will be taken at provincial level by the Education Ministry and examinations department.
Meanwhile, the teacher who was involved in the sexual harassment of the female school candidate in Kaluvilasena Maha Vidyalaya, Hidogama, has been arrested and remanded, while investigations into the incident continue.
The north central province education department had taken steps to interdict him.
The assistant examination invigilator had not disclosed the incident and action has been taken against him too. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
