Wildlife officer killed in misfire

An officer attached to Hambantota Wildlife Department was killed when his weapon allegedly misfired during a confrontation between several poachers in Walasugala, Hambantota this morning Police said.

A group of wildlife officers had carried out a raid in the area upon receiving information about a group of poachers.
