A close associate of the notorious underworld figure and drug kingpin, Makandure Madush was arrested in Weligama, by the Special Task Officers (STF) intelligence unit yesterday.
The suspect Ranawanake Dhammika Nuwan Ranawaka (35) alias 'Welihida Kalu', who was with heroin weighing two grams and 960 milligrams in his possession, was later handed over to the Weligama police for further investigations.
The arrest was made in Ihala Watte police area in Weligama following a tip-off by the STF team led by STF CI Nadeeka Silva. (DSB)
