Former Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Vass Gunawardena, who is serving his prison sentence at Welikada Prison, has contracted Covid-19, the Prisons Department said.
As the result of this, the former DIG has been transferred to the prison hospital for necessary treatment.
