Special Projects Minister Sarath Amunugama said today the government has decided to impose the 15 per cent VAT increase on liquor and cigarettes and to remove VAT on all medical tests and dialysis.

He said VAT imposed on international air tickets would also be removed while the VAT on domestic air tickets would not be changed.

Dr. Amunugama said this was decided at the Economic Committee meeting yesterday and that the proposals would be submitted to the Cabinet next Tuesday. (Chaturanga Pradeep)
