UPFA MP Piyal Nishantha arrived at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) this morning to record a statement in connection with casualties of an explosion at a safe house in Sainthamaruthu, Kalmunai recently.
It was reported that the MP had allegedly stated in a television programme that the security personnel were among the casualties in the explosion.
However, the police said that no casualties of security personnel were reported during the exchange of fire. Earlier, Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera also requested the CID to conduct an inquiry into a statement by MP Piyal Nishantha.
