Two flights diverted to Mattala due to bad weather

Two SriLankan flights which were scheduled to land at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), were diverted to Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA) this morning due to the adverse weather conditions, the MRIA duty manager said.

He said the SriLankan Air UL-266 and UL-230 flights had arrived from Riyadh and the Kuwait international airports respectively.

"The UL-266 flight landed at the MRIA at 6.58 a.m and left for BIA at 8.10 a.m. There were 193 passengers including the crew members on board. The UL-230 flight landed at MRIA at 7.00 a.m and left for BIA at 8.40 a.m There were 271 passengers including the crew members on board, ” he said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
