Two criminal gang members ‘Welipare Karun’ and ‘Lal Baba’ two accomplices of the prominent underworld figure Chaminda Jayanath alias Dematagoda Chaminda were arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) officers this evening, police spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera said.
He said the suspects were arrested with 50 grams of heroin in their possession.
Addressing the media he said the suspects were identified as Tikiri Ennage Kasun Chinthaka (27) alias ‘Welipare Karun’ and Weerapurage Aruna Udaya Kumara (46) alias ‘Lal Baba’.
Investigations revealed the suspect Welipare Karun was an army deserter.
Both suspects are residents of Welipara Peliyagoda, SP Gunasekera said.
