Access to social media sites, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube have been blocked in Sri Lanka, as users complained of difficulty downloading and using these apps.
Rumors were rife from yesterday that there were plans to block social media sites, with users staying that VPNs should be downloaded.
Later in the night, users complained that the apps were not working, leading to strong speculation that the government had restricted access to the sites.
