A special traffic plan would be in place in connection with the 73rd Independence Day celebrations to be held on February 4 at the Independence Square in Colombo.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said that the traffic would be restricted during rehearsals on January 30, 31 and February 1, 2 and 3 at Independence Square.
Traffic will be restricted from 6.00 am to 1.00 pm on rehearsal days and from 4.00 am to 1.00 pm on February 4 on the roads around the Independence Square and its vicinity.
He said policemen will be stationed at the relevant places would direct motorists to use alternative routes due to this.
DIG Rohana said sign boards on the alternative routes will also be displayed during these days.
