Three killed, three injured in head-on collision

A woman and her two daughters were killed and three others injured when a three-wheeler collided head-on with a bus at Uruwatte in Ambalangoda this afternoon, police said.

The police said the deceased 60-year-old woman was identified as Rajapaksha Siriyawathee and her two deceased daughters were identified as 27-year-old Chalani Madushani De Silva and 25-year-old Dinusha Malshani.

The body of the deceased woman is kept at the Ambalangoda District Hospital and the bodies of the two daughters are kept at the Balapitiya Base Hospital.

The driver of the three-wheeler who sustained severe injuries was identified as 40-year-old Rajith Kumara. He was admitted to the Karapitiya Hospital from the Balapitiya Base Hospital for further treatment.

The other two injured individuals were admitted to the Balapitiya Base Hospital were identified as 33-year-old Prashanthi Rochani and her four-year-old daughter Dashini Rehansa. (Hemantha De Silva)
