Three unidentified bodies have washed ashore on the Valvettithurai and the Delft coasts in Jaffna during the past two days raising doubts whether there was a boat disaster, Police said.

Two bodies had washed ashore on the Valvettithurai coast yesterday (28) while another on the shore along the Delft isle coast today (29).

The Delft police have initiated an investigation into the incident.

Moreover, the Police suspect that a boat carrying illegal migrants which might have attempted to enter Jaffna marine boarder has capsized or sunk off the sea.

Besides, there is no information as of now about a group of fishermen who had gone missing in the sea off Jaffna after they went for fishing recently.

The Delft Police said they had informed about this to the Navy and necessary action will be taken by them. (Romesh Madushanka)
