Three accomplices of underworld figure 'Angoda Lokka' were arrested today in connection with a double murder, in which a businessman and his driver were shot dead in Hanwella, Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera said.
A 43-year-old soil businessman W. Vijith Premalal alias Sumedha and 32-year-old M.G. Ravindum were shot dead by two unidentified gunmen at Pahathgama in Hanwella on August 25.
SP Gunasekera said the Hanwella Police and the Western Province (South) crimes officers had launched an investigation into the shooting. They had analysed CCTV footages and phone records to apprehend the suspects.
The suspects, 32-year-old Shammi waruna Kumara, Ajith Premalal (28) and Gayan Darshana (31), were arrested on charges of aiding and abetting in the shooting. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
