Former president Mahinda Rajapaksa said today the ministers who are deciding on the arrest of political opponents are the ones who should be arrested with their family members.

He said this when a journalist referred to a statement made by a minister that Mr. Rajapaksa’s family should be jailed for the crimes they are alleged to have committed.

“Ministers are the ones making decisions today but they and their families should be arrested,” he told the journalist outside the Welikada Prison after visiting his son Namal.

Mr. Rajapaksa said his wife, him and Rohitha were next in line to be arrested.
He said he was arrested and remanded on false charges by the then ‘Dharmishta’ government and today his sons were being arrested by the ‘Yahapalana’ government. “There is no difference between  Dharmishta and Yahapalanaya,” he said.
