UNP candidate Palitha Thevarapperuma was hospitalized after he was allegedly assaulted by a group of people at Wekandala in Mathugama, Police said.
They said he was assaulted after an argument with some individuals of a company which had undertaken a project to lay water pipes at Wekandala in Mathugama.
The former MP was admitted to the Nagoda Hospital with injuries to his leg. (Bimal Shyaman)
