A tense situation was reported at a vaccination center at Dodanduwa in Galle when the health officials stopped giving Covid-19 vaccines.
It was reported that the authorities at the Hikkaduwa MOH office had stopped giving vaccines after a group of people at the vaccination center behaved in an unruly manner claiming that authorities had given vaccines to several people in the Rathgama MOH area instead of giving priority to those who were at the center.
People claimed that health authorities left the center with the remaining stock of vaccines brought at the center.
They alleged that though the vaccination card of some people had been marked as given the vaccine, they had not been vaccinated.
The authorities claimed they stopped giving vaccines as they were unable to control the situation. The health officials said they left the place to visit on another day.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya and D.G. Sugathapala)
