Temples to go dark on Vap Poya

The Sri Lanka Ramanya Mahanikaya's Central Province Sangha Sabha has taken a decision to turn off the lights of all temples during the upcoming Vap poya day as a mark of protest against the increased electricity tariffs, Chief Sangha Nayaka of the Central Province – Ven. Godamune Pannakitthi said

He also said that the monks of the Central Provincial Sangha of the Ramanya Nikaya, who gathered under the leadership of Sri Lankan Ramanya Nikaya Anunayaka Kappetiyagoda Sirivimala Thera at Rajopavanarama Temple in Gatambe, Kandy, passed a special resolution and decided to switch off the lights in all the temples on the upcoming Poya day in protest against the government's action to increase the electricity bill.
