A teacher, attached to a leading school in Wallahagoda in Gampola has been arrested yesterday for brutally beating her mother-in-law, police said.
The teacher was arrested after a video circulated in social media showing the teacher mercilessly beating another woman.
Accordingly, the teacher was arrested following a complaint received by the Gampola Police.
The video shows the teacher was first attacking the victim with a knife. Then the beaten woman was seen falling on the ground when the former pushed her.
The mother-in-law reported to have made several complains to the police on many previous occasions over similar attacks by her daughter-in-law.
It was reported that the police had warned the suspect on those occasions and released the daughter-in-law.
