A Syrian family who tried to enter Sri Lanka using fraudulent documents has been arrested at the BIA and deported, Immigration and Emigration Department officials said.

They said that the family had used a forged United Arab Emirates passport.

The father of the family aged 29 was identified as a dentist.

The man, his wife (28) and their one-year-old child were deported.

They arrived at the Immigration Counter claiming they were visiting Sri Lanka.

The officials examined them on suspicion of their UAE passports.

While interrogating them further, they searched their luggage and found three of their original Syrian passports.

The officials then had deported them back to Dubai on the same flight on which they arrived. (T.K.G. Kapila)
