The remaining Cabinet ministers of the new government will be sworn in today by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Daily Mirror learns.

Two MPs from the independent group of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna- Susil Premajantha and Anura Priyadarshana Yapa- will also be among them. Besides, Nimal Siripala de Silva and Mahinda Amaraweera of Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) will also join the new Cabinet.

Daily Mirror learns that two members of Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) are likely to take up positions in the new Cabinet regardless of their party’s decision not to be an ally of the government.

The portfolios such as justice and law and order have been reserved for MPs from the ruling SLPP. Later, around 25 state ministers are set to be appointed. The Ceylon Workers’ Congress (CWC) is also having talks with the new government for acceptance of ministerial posts. (Kelum Bandara)
